The Use of Breath

Nadi Shodjana (alternative nostril breathing)

Restores balance to the left and right hemispheres of the brain, increases the ability to focus, settles anxiety, relieves stress and rejuvenates the nervous system.

The Practice:

  • Sit comfortable and tall
  • Relax the left palm on lap and bring the right hand to the face
  • Close the eyes, inhale and exhale deeply
  • Using the right thumb, close the right nostril
  • INHALE slowly through the left nostril
  • Close off the left nostril using the right ring (4th) finger
  • Release thumb to open the right nostril
  • EXHALE slowly through the right nostril

Repeat as many times as required, matching the length of the inhalations, pauses and exhalations to restore balance and ease in the mind and body.
